Crystal served in the United States Coast Guard from 2009-2013 as a Machinery Technician aboard the USCGC Forward in Portsmouth, Virginia, where she was responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical and associated mechanical systems. This included the shipboard generators and shore-based power equipment. Her duties included maintaining and operating the diesel generators on board the cutter, troubleshooting electrical control systems, load testing, damage-control emergency training, and ensuring the safe and reliable operation of critical electrical distribution systems. She also served as one of the Repair Party Electricians on the cutter.
Following her military service, she was employed for several years as an EIC Technician with TC Energy’s PNGTS pipeline, which runs through Maine and New Hampshire. In this role, she was responsible for installing, maintaining, and calibrating electrical and electronic equipment used for measurement, controls, and automated safety systems for the pipeline.
She is currently a licensed Journeyman and Limited Master with the state of Maine and a licensed Journeyman in New Hampshire.
She serves Southern Maine and New Hampshire doing renovations, new construction, and service calls.
